Bio

  • Professor of Mathematics, Oberlin College, Oberlin, OH, USA.
  • Award-winning artist and author.
  • Uses mathematical optimization techniques to create visual artwork (domino mosaics, flexible Truchet-tile mosaics, map-colored mosaics, TSP Art, simple-closed-curve sculptures, loops, and labyrinths).
  • Member of the editorial board of the Journal of Mathematics and the Arts.
  • Co-chair of the program committee of Bridges 2012.

  • Inaugural Outstanding Paper Award, Journal of Mathematics and the Arts, 2012 (for the article "Simple-Close-Curve Sculptures of Knots and Links").
